Module 6 is the second in a set of four course modules focused on explicit instruction. This module introduces the concept of supporting practices necessary for successful implementation of explicit instruction. The module introduces how to use effective methods to elicit frequent responses. Throughout the module, educators will learn how eliciting frequent responses support instruction within the DBI framework.

This module is focused on the foundational skills of basic facts and computations across elementary grade levels. This module reviews the math trajectories that lead to long-term success and mastery of facts. Mastery of facts will lead to deeper understanding of facts in order to complete multi-step computations.
In Module 3 of the Intensive Intervention in Mathematics Course Content we emphasize the necessity for using evidence-based interventions or strategies as the starting point of instruction within intensive intervention. In this module, educators will learn about: (1) The umbrella term of evidence-based practices and different types of evidence-based practices; (2) Where to locate evidence-based practices; (3) How to design the instructional platform for use within intensive intervention.
NCII partnered with Project STAIR (Supporting Teaching of Algebra: Individual Readiness) to host a series of three webinars focused on implementing data-based individualization (DBI) with a focus on mathematics during COVID-19 restrictions.
This module is focused on the evidence-based strategies necessary for students to be successful in solving word problems. Specific strategies and practice of the strategies to include as part of mathematics intervention are reviewed. In this webinar, Dr. Sarah Powell an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin introduces a new free resource from NCII that can be used by faculty to develop or supplement coursework to ensure educators are prepared to support students with intensive math needs. The Intensive Intervention Math Course Content consists of eight modules covering a range of math related topics. Each module includes video lessons, activities, knowledge checks, practice-based opportunities, and more! In this webinar, Dr. Powell reviews the content available, discusses how it could be used as you develop courses, and answers questions that you might have.
An effective and efficient data system is essential for successful implementation of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). However, prior to selecting an appropriate system, schools and districts must identify what its staff and community need and what resources the district or school has to support an MTSS data system. This two-step tool can help teams to consider both what their needs are and to evaluate available tools against those needs. Step 1 can help your team systematically identify and document your MTSS data system needs and current context and step 2 focuses on selecting and evaluating a data system for conducting screening and progress monitoring within a tiered system of support based on the identified needs and context from step 1
This module is focused on the foundational skills of basic facts and computations needed for students to be successful in middle school. This module reviews the math trajectories, and explicit, systematic strategies to teach that can lead to long-term success and mastery of facts that can be applied to more advanced, multi-step computations and is an essential component for all tiered interventions.
This is part 1 of the larger module, “Informal Academic Diagnostic Assessment: Using Data to Guide Intensive Instruction.” This part is intended to provide an overview of common general outcome measures (GOM) used for progress monitoring in reading and mathematics, with guidance on selecting an appropriate measure.
This is part 3 of the larger module, “Informal Academic Diagnostic Assessment: Using Data to Guide Intensive Instruction.” This part is intended to provide participants with an introduction to error analysis of curriculum-based measures for the purpose of identifying skill deficits and providing examples of error analysis in reading and mathematics. Part 4, “Identifying Target Skills,” will further link these skill deficits to intervention.
