In this webinar, Dr. Sarah Powell an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin introduces a new free resource from NCII that can be used by faculty to develop or supplement coursework to ensure educators are prepared to support students with intensive math needs. The Intensive Intervention Math Course Content consists of eight modules covering a range of math related topics. Each module includes video lessons, activities, knowledge checks, practice-based opportunities, and more! In this webinar, Dr. Powell reviews the content available, discusses how it could be used as you develop courses, and answers questions that you might have.
This two page handout highlights how to use the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity when selecting, evaluating, and intensifying interventions for students who are English learners (ELs). This activity was developed by Tammy Moran a special education teacher in Ferris Independent School District. In this lesson, she illustrates the use of the Understand-Plan-Solve-Evaluate (UPSE) Method. This method is a problem-solving strategy that can be used to support students struggling with word problems. The lesson can be used synchronously or asynchronously and does not require using multiple platforms. This collection includes a tip sheet, a video example, slides to facilitate the lesson, a UPSE template, and reflection questions.
NCII developed this resource to help educators better understand the purpose of and considerations surrounding behavior screening in schools. Educators can use the information on this resource in conjunction with the Behavior Screening Tools Chart to (a) design a screening process for their school and (b) select or evaluate screening tools.
This webinar provides an overview of the Academic Intervention Taxonomy Briefs and describes how they can help teachers design productive intervention programs for students with intensive academic needs.
