This webinar models how practitioners can use data-based individualization (DBI) to develop and implement specially designed instruction (SDI) for students with disabilities.
This webinar provides an overview of the Academic Intervention Taxonomy Briefs and describes how they can help teachers design productive intervention programs for students with intensive academic needs.
This four-part webinar series is focused on the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity. In this Voices from the Field video, Jill Pentimoni, Ph.D. from NCII and the University of Notre Dame and Jade Wexler, Ph.D. from the University of Maryland discuss how they used the tools charts in a graduate class to help prepare and inform students about the technical criteria used to review tools on the academic intervention tools chart. Dr. Wexler also shares how she has used the charts within undergraduate courses.
In this webinar, Drs. Kim St. Martin and Sharon Vaughn highlight some key essential practices presented in Intensifying Literacy Instruction: Essential Practices Considerations and will reflect on considerations for implementation. Drs. St. Martin and Vaughn focus on ways educators and educational leaders can increase their capacity to develop skilled readers and writers, identify critical dimensions for designing intervention platforms as the foundation for effective instruction, and adapt interventions to increase the instructional intensity.
The pandemic has disrupted and, in many cases hindered, learning for all students – most particularly for our most vulnerable populations. Data literacy is key to understanding and tailoring instructional decisions to address students’ varying needs. In this webinar panelists discuss strategies and frameworks to ensure educators are data literate and understand how data literacy can help districts and schools address learning opportunity gaps.
The National Center on Intensive Intervention and the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports have partnered to present a webinar series focused on providing educators with tools to support secondary students during virtual learning and the return to in-person learning. This series is intended for educators at the state and local level who work with students with intensive behavioral needs in secondary school settings. Webinar 1: Check and Connect: Implementation and Adaptation in a Virtual Environment At the core of Check & Connect is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring, trained mentor who both advocates for and challenges the student to keep education salient. Relationships are more important than ever given that current status of education and ongoing virtual learning.
This guide was developed by Melanie Kowalick an MTSS Curriculum Specialist in Wichita Falls Independent School District. This planning guide may be used for planning short intervention activities, review and practice activities, or progress monitoring checks. During school closures, we learned that virtual intervention does not look the same as face-to-face intervention. Parent support and planning are going to be the key to helping our students who have difficulties with reading and mathematics. For educators or parents, part of this support includes simple ways to monitor student progress.
NCII partnered with Project STAIR (Supporting Teaching of Algebra: Individual Readiness) to host a series of three webinars focused on implementing data-based individualization (DBI) with a focus on mathematics during COVID-19 restrictions.
