Planning Intensive Intervention in Mathematics: Focus on Counting and Place-Value Concepts Module
Counting and place value are prerequisite skills that are essential for more advanced, multistep mathematics skills. This module focuses on the foundational skills of counting and place value, including common skill areas where students struggle. Instructional skills and case studies are presented to help teachers and interventionists better understand essential skills to include across tiered interventions.
The handout is available in PowerPoint format. A majority of the slides are the same, but the handout includes activities without the “answers” and case studies with space for participants to analyze and provide recommendations. It is recommended that the handout be printed with three slides per page to allow for participants to complete activities as the module is presented.
