Rebecca Zumeta Edmonds

Rebecca Zumeta Edmonds leads the special education practice group at AIR. In addition, she serves as the Director of the National Center on Intensive Intervention and Principal Investigator of the PROGRESS Center. Prior to AIR, Dr. Zumeta Edmonds worked for the Washington State Department of Special Education, and on mathematics intervention research projects at Vanderbilt University. Across these roles, she has accrued extensive experience in managing large federal and state special education projects, and she has presented to a wide variety of researcher, policymaker, and practitioner audiences. She has also authored or co-authored nearly two dozen papers, chapters, and essays on multi-tiered systems of support, intensive intervention, special education policy, implementation, screening, and progress monitoring assessment. Prior to earning her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, she taught special education at public and private lab schools in the Seattle area.
