This webinar was presented by Dr. Daniel Maggin, Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, a member of NCII’s Behavioral Intervention and Behavioral Progress Monitoring Technical Review Committees, and a NCII trainer. In the webinar he discussed how to measure behavior more systematically. Dr. Maggin shared methods for collecting behavioral data, procedures for examining behavioral data, and discussed using behavioral progress monitoring to make programming decisions. Within those areas he focused on (a) defining progress monitoring, (b) methods available for progress monitoring, including but not limited to Direct Behavior Rating (DBR), and  (c) ways to examine progress monitoring data and make decisions about instruction and behavioral interventions.

Dr. Maggin is currently an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a member of NCII’s Behavioral Intervention and Behavioral Progress Monitoring Technical Review Committees. He earned his Ph. D. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University and his expertise addresses three areas related to the education of students with, and at risk for, developing emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) including, (a) identification of evidence-based practices, (b) training of school personnel to evaluate intervention effectiveness, and (c) development of methods to ensure that effective interventions are implemented with integrity.
